Stevens Pass Bike Park Open To The Public This Weekend: October 1 - 2

by Justin Miller
Sep 27, 2011 at 20:19

The Stevens Pass Bike Park will open for the public on October 1st & 2nd, 2011!  Mark your calenders and tune up your bikes because it is almost time to get in on the ground floor of Washington's first lift-accessed bike park.

Stevens Pass Bike Park Grand Opening

Come join us for an epic weekend of riding on the newest trails in the state.  Keep in mind this is a soft opening of the park: the trails are young, there is still construction underway, and it's been dry so the trails are bit dusty.  Cross "Attend the historic opening of the Stevens Pass Bike Park" off your bucket list with us on October 1st & 2nd.

Be sure to slap some high fives and save the date.

Sooo stoked! This is why I love Seattle! We got Duthie Hill, I-5 Colonnade, close access to local trails and Whistler, and now, Stevens Bike Park!

Duthie is SO sick! I had never heard of it until I went out west and met some local guys who took me there. Not saying its any sort of secret, but there aren't many videos from Duthie and it's not talked about like Colonnade or Whistler. If you're reading this, and going to be near Seattle... go to Duthie Hill... that place is AMAZING!

Ditto! My friends and I live out in the Northgate/Seattle area, but every week, we make a trek out there and spend about 3 hours shredding. Wish it was closer, but definitely worth the drive!

eh.. duthie is alright... way to crowded. and it rains in seattle all the time. I hear the riding is better in california...

So where exactly on earth is this place?
  • + 2
flag philaaay (Sep 28, 2011 at 14:11)
Yeah, Duthie does get crowded at time, especially on the weekends and can get frustrating, especially the times I was going on Ryan's Eternal and during the middle of the run, I lost all my speed because a father was riding through really slow following his 5-7 year olds on their small bikes... *sigh* Duthie's over on the Eastside in Issaquah, WA - so far, the best place to ride I think, but I'm definitely looking forward to the progression of Stevens Pass! =)

Dear Sir/Maddam riding with the blue and black flame combo shirt

I'm not sure what you were thinking this morning when you woke up, but flaming shirts and pants or shorts that look like you belong in the 80's . . . .

Then again, probably a lady killer !

To answer a few questions. It is a black single track line, far better and more difficult than Ryan's No pedaling required, a few jumps here and there but just a good old downhill trail similar to what you would find in Port ANgeles or Tokul. The intermediate line is wide and groomed, roll 'em or jump 'em it is your choice.

Slingshot Wookie (singletrack) is pretty much complete and is about a 3 minute ride depending on your skill level.

Rock Crusher (intermediate flow) is or rather was much shorter and involves a bit of fire road to make it to the lift again. They did have alot more trail that was blocked, so if they get a crucial bridge built, this trail will be more than twice as long as it was last weekend. So last weekend it was about a 90 second ride, with the potential for a 3 minute ride this coming weekend, again depending on your skill.

Takes about 90 minutes to get there from Lynnwood.

That's me on the right in the first picture. Good Times! Thanks SPBP!

It was so good this weekend and so much fun we are going to do it again this weekend Oct 8&9. 10-4pm $20bucks.

Thanks to everyone who came up this weekend. We had almost 900 riders over the two days. Shows great support for MTB in the PNW.

See you this weekend.

Must be because of the music track. I know a few of my Youtube videos are blocked in ONLY Germany for that reason. Somewhat odd, I'd say.

Good question! Hopefully someone from Stevens can give us the full low down. Looks like they green and blue at least open now but I'm not 100% sure about that

Ive only heard of blue and black trails that they built. The black looked like ryans flow from a helmet cam I saw. Meaning it looks like a blue trail right now. I'm so dummed that I'll miss it.

Ah man! Well I'm not sure what's up yet, I can't afford to get there by myself and Sunday would be the only day I could go... everyone is saving their darn nickles for the closing weekend at Whistler. Whistler's friggin beat, don't really wanna go any more this year.
Joel, that's also something to keep in mind, should you happen to have a less than phenomenal turn-out... sounds like a LOT of people are also saving for a last Whistler trip. If you can get the chance to open it for another weekend after Whistler shuts down, i think you might have even better luck? I dunno...,
But if I DONT find a way to make it, GOOD LUCK! Can't wait to get there!
